Jenny Givens, Associate

Jenny’s practice focuses on health care operational, regulatory and corporate matters, and a variety transactional health law matters including fraud and abuse, compliance, HIPAA, EMTALA, Medicare/Medicaid licensure and certification, reimbursement issues, employment agreements, coverage agreements, and management services contracts. Jenny assists and advises a wide range of health care service providers, including both publicly-traded and tax-exempt hospitals, physician entities, and other health care related businesses.

Prior to attending law school, Jenny worked in health care administration for a community-hospital based in Los Angeles, California. As Assistant Administrator for the hospital, she worked with the medical staff and all executive team committees. She was responsible for strategic planning, profitability, service quality, day-to day operations of the hospital’s ancillary services, and licensing and accreditation activities. During her tenure in hospital administration, Jenny successfully lead her facility through two Joint Commission Surveys and was instrumental in the successful completion of an 80,000 sq. ft. expansion project. Jenny’s hospital management experience gives her a unique understanding of the challenges facing health care entities and professionals.

Representative Experience

  • Researches licensing and operational standards for a variety of health care professionals and health care facilities including hospitals, hospital systems, ambulatory surgery centers, and physical therapy clinics.
  • Assists businesses and health care professionals with a variety of matters including entity formation, contracting, reimbursement, compliance with federal and state law, compliance with Joint Commission Standards for Accreditation, and a variety of daily operational issues.
  • Drafts corporate bylaws, policies and procedures, and forms for hospitals and other health care related businesses.
  • Analyzes various business transactions to ensure compliance with health care fraud and abuse laws.
